Job Placement

Residents leaving the facility are required to have a job plan.

Many are promised jobs by old friends or family members, but when they get home, those plans fall through.

All are facing many barriers to their employment because of their convictions, prior mistakes, a poor work history, or the years since they have been employed.

The parole officers, counselors, and instructors at L.I.F.E. Tech are working to equip each resident with the skills he needs as well as the confidence and the right attitude to help him not only get a job but also keep it.
Job Line

Vocational Rehabilitation

The Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services (ADRS) works with other entities to provide rehabilitation services to L.I.F.E. Tech residents who have disabilities.

ADRS serves Alabama's parolee population statewide through its Vocational Rehabilitation division and has a rehabilitation assistant assigned to the ADRS office at the Thomasville L.I.F.E. Tech campus.

The department provides an array of services to assist residents in obtaining employment, including evaluation and assessment, counseling and guidance, training and related services, transportation, job development, job placement, and post-placement assistance.

ADRS has 21 Vocational Rehabilitation offices located throughout the state, making it possible for discharged L.I.F.E. Tech residents to receive services from counselors in their home communities.
