FAQ
Here are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions.
A: FAQ is an acronym for "frequently asked questions."
Q: How long does the program last? A: The Thomasville LIFE Tech Program lasts 30 weeks. It consists of 1 one of assessments, testing and orientation followed by 11 weeks of treatment with the final 18 weeks spent in the education component. If a resident's sentence expires (EOS) before the end of the 30 weeks, he is allowed to leave without completing.
A: The treatment provider decides who is eligible for a family reunification visit at five weeks into the program. Up to two adults and two children will be allowed on site; a counselor will be present to ease the reunification process. The adults visiting MUST bring a valid ID, and the driver must present a valid driver's license; the visit will last two-to-five hours.
After 14 weeks in the program, the resident will be allowed a weekend pass to go home. Weekend passes begin at 4 p.m. on Friday (no earlier) and extend to 3 p.m. on Sunday (no later).
BOTH PASSES ARE CONTINGENT UPON THE RESIDENT'S SUCCESSFUL PROGRESSION IN THE PROGRAM. HE CANNOT BE ON RESTRICTION FOR AN INFRACTION OF CENTER RULES AND STILL GET A PASS OR VISIT.
Important: If you come for an on-site visit, please observe the rules of propriety. Do not dress inappropriately or you may not be allowed to visit. Also, while we understand it has been a while since some of you may have had a chance to visit with your loved one, please refrain from excessive displays of affection in public. This could result in your being asked to leave the site and your loved one being placed on restriction or other sanctions.
A: Please do not send packages before an individual arrives on site. On the day a new group arrives, the Pardons and Paroles staff hold an orientation session explaining the rules of the facility. He will receive a list of all items that are allowed at that time, and he can send that list home. Packages will be permitted at other times during the length of the program as determined by the parole officer and/or administration. Packages are to be sent to the site via U.S. Mail.
A: Cell phones and pagers, illegal drugs or alcohol, mouth washes or other items that contain alcohol, pornographic materials (both printed and DVD's), and any type of weapons are prohibited. Other items may be deemed "contraband" at the discretion of the director.
